Tutorial Statement of my heart.
Hi all and thank you for being interested in a tutorial or directions for the ‘Statement of my heart’ box I made yesterday. My holiday starts First of May, but I didn’t want you to wait that long for the directions. At first I wanted to do this tutorial in English and Dutch but I decided to do this in English only. I think the pictures do the talking and explaining enough to make sure also Dutch people can make this box. If they are interested ;-). Just read through all my English writing mistakes please. Let’s begin!
What do you need?
-Cs or DSP 12″ x 12″ (1 each of a different color or pattern)
-Scrap piece whisper white or very vanilla and a left over from the Cs or DSP you use (ovals)
-Trimmer, score board, bonefolder, paper snips, glue, dimensionals
-Big shot, Layering ovals dies (the 2 biggest ones)
-Stamp set Statement of my heart and stamp pad basic black (or what you prefer)
The box (bottom) and the lid (top).
Please see the pictures and read text before you start.
For the bottom part: Cs or DSP 10″ x 8 3/4″. Score on all 4 sides : 1″ and 2″. Fold and burnish and cut away all ‘green’ parts.
For the top part: Cs or DSP 9″ x 7 3/4″. Score on all 4 sides ( !! see next picture) 3/4″ and 1 1/2″. You have to put your paper slightly to the right on your score board, about 1/16th of an inch. Just for the top part, to get a nice flush fit.
Bottom part line up as usual.
Top part, line up slightly to the right, about 1/16th of an inch. Do this on all 4 sides and score on 3/4″ and 1 1/2″
When you’re done, fold and burnish.
Then cut away the parts as shown.
Put the box together. Normally I wouldn’t use tape but I did this to show you where to put your glue. First glue the small flaps in place.
After that you glue the ‘reinforce’ parts in place. Just fold them over and give them a good rub with your bone folder. The bottom part is done now.
You do exactly the same thing with the top part and yay! you have a nice box.
To extra reinforce you can glue an extra piece of Cs or DSP in the middle of the box and lid. I didn’t with this box as you can see.
The finishing touch.
To finish the box you die cut the biggest oval from the colored scrap piece and the smaller oval from a whisper white scrap.
Stamp the text on the whisper white oval. Glue the colored oval in place and put dimensionals op the text oval. Don’t do it like I did, try to put it in place straight ;-). And your box is complete.
